We all make mistakes...right? A Primer in Middle of the Night Dining

Saturday night, after some fun and games out and about in Columbus, we found ourselves peckish. In the long-standing tradition of late night party goers everywhere, we sought out greasy, heavy, cheap breakfast items.
Traditionally, my favorite spot for a late night gravy-craving has been the TeeJayes Country Place in Clintonville. Before anyone gasps in disgust, I KNOW this is not good food! That really isn't the point of this place. It's cheap, filling and there is generally enough bread (or breading) to soak up some previously ingested liquids.
For whatever reason, when we sat down, I got an unnexpected craving for roast beef, so I forsook my normal chipped beef on biscuits and ordered a roast beef "split". That is their name for their gravy and mashed potato covered sandwiches. Well, as anyone who's been in that situation will tell you, the best decisions are not made on the way home from the bar in the middle of the night and TeeJaye's roast beef "split" is inedible. Think pre-sliced deli roast beef, heated, slapped between wonder bread and covered in jarred gravy. You would think I wouldn't have expected more, but alas, I did.
So, in short, don't make the same mistake I did and stray from the late night breakfast menu. You will regret it!

  1. The only thing worth eating at 2am in the morning at TeeJay's is the Barnyard Buster - yum YUM!

  2. i don't like Teejaye's at all, even when drunk. I'm more of a Bob Evans person, though I guess the two are different!

  3. VERY DIFFERENT!
TeeJay's is Columbus owned drunk food!
Plus...you are obviously not a "gravy" person.
Why am I discussing this with someone who puts hotdogs in their spaghetti sauce???
