We all make mistakes...right? A Primer in Middle of the Night Dining

Saturday night, after some fun and games out and about in Columbus, we found ourselves peckish. In the long-standing tradition of late night party goers everywhere, we sought out greasy, heavy, cheap breakfast items.
Traditionally, my favorite spot for a late night gravy-craving has been the TeeJayes Country Place in Clintonville. Before anyone gasps in disgust, I KNOW this is not good food! That really isn't the point of this place. It's cheap, filling and there is generally enough bread (or breading) to soak up some previously ingested liquids.
For whatever reason, when we sat down, I got an unnexpected craving for roast beef, so I forsook my normal chipped beef on biscuits and ordered a roast beef "split". That is their name for their gravy and mashed potato covered sandwiches. Well, as anyone who's been in that situation will tell you, the best decisions are not made on the way home from the bar in the middle of the night and TeeJaye's roast beef "split" is inedible. Think pre-sliced deli roast beef, heated, slapped between wonder bread and covered in jarred gravy. You would think I wouldn't have expected more, but alas, I did.
So, in short, don't make the same mistake I did and stray from the late night breakfast menu. You will regret it!

Spicey Black Bean and Rice Soup

Don't get too excited. I'm not posting a recipe quite yet. This is actually a plea for a recipe. Today, the other MB and I had lunch at Chelly Belly in lovely downtown Delaware. I'm not sure whether they are a chain, related to Pot Belly sandwich shops or not, but they are a nice quick lunch stop if you happen to be in D-town.
Anywho...I had a forgettable turkey panini, but the soup was awesome. I forgot to ask whether it came in pre-packaged or they made it (I suspect it was homemade) but it was a Black Bean and Rice soup. If anyone happens to have a recipe, share it please!

It Has Begun...

So...my friend Maite is a semi-pro blogger who lives her life near exclusively from her bedroom, via her mac, has convinced me that the world needs another blog.
I suppose it is blase to make the first blog a manifesto of my dreams/vision/interests, but its a bit necessary if anyone is ever going to read this thing.

I like food...I like cooking food, I like eating food and I like shopping for food related items.

I like decorating, not design! I have some vision, but the other Mr. Baker is stronger in that department, so if he starts a blog, I'm sure you can read more design related info on it!

Basically, I'm a 30 year-old gay guy who lives on a farm in sunny central Ohio and likes trying new things and living well.
If you think following my journey through life is interesting, by all means, continue to check this blog.
If you don't...well, screw you!*

*Not really, I'm a nice guy. I just politely ask that you click over to Perez Hilton or some other trashy blog that more suits your taste.
